Understand your Stress Response

When you're stressed, your body goes into "fight or flight" mode, releasing stress hormones like cortisol.  While this response is helpful in emergencies, chronic stress can take a toll on your health.

How Mindfulness Reduces your Stress

Mindfulness helps you break the cycle of stress by supporting you to be in the present moment. By focusing on being in this present moment you can prevent your mind from racing with worries about the past or future.

Mindful Breathing for Stress Relief

A simple yet powerful technique for reducing stress is Mindful Breathing. Here's how to practice it:

  1. Find a quiet place and sit comfortably.

  2. Breath in through your nose, down deep into your body.

  3. Allow that air to absorb anything that’s not serving you.

  4. Breathe out slowly through your mouth, letting go of any stress & tension.

  5. Repeat for a few minutes, focusing on your breath.

Scientific Evidence

Studies have shown that mindfulness can lower your cortisol levels, reduce your blood pressure, and improve your heart rate variability, all of which supports you to reduce stress and anxiety.

How to Add Mindfulness into Your Routine

Even a few minutes of mindfulness each day can make a difference. Consider starting with a short morning meditation or taking mindful breaks during your day.

Simple Practice:

Set an alarm for 2 times a day to just breathe for 2-3 minutes.

Conclusion:

Mindfulness is a valuable tool for managing your stress, anxiety, and focus.  By practicing mindfulness regularly, you can cultivate a greater sense of calm and resilience during challenges.
